SEVENDUST Cancel European Tour
May 18, 2006SEVENDUST have issued the following statement regarding their previously announced European tour:
"Due to a lack of tour support once guaranteed by our previous label, we have regrettably been forced to cancel our European tour plans for the month of June. We would like to express our apologies and share in the disappointment with our fans but vow to return to Europe in the very near future."
SEVENDUST were recently forced to forgo their initial U.S. tour dates in early May due to a broken bone in the left hand of guitarist John Connolly.
SEVENDUST announced last month that they and their wholly owned record label 7Bros. Records have officially parted ways with the Universal-affiliated WineDark Records. The band inked a deal with WineDark in early 2005 after a lengthy stint with TVT Records. 7Bros. Records continues its distribution through Fontana/Universal Music in North America and Roadrunner/Universal Music throughout the rest of the world.
SEVENDUST's sole Winedark/Universal effort, "Next", has sold around 155,000 copies in the United States since its October 2005 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. This is roughly half of the total tally registered by its predecessor, 2003's "Seasons", which was the band's last studio release for TVT.
SEVENDUST's top-selling album to date is their self-titled debut, which has sold more than 700,000 copies since its April 1997 release.
"Next" marked the recording debut with the band of new guitarist Sonny Mayo (ex-AMEN/SNOT). Mayo joined SEVENDUST in early 2005 as the replacement for Clint Lowery, who left the group mid-tour in December 2004, citing "personal issues." Lowery has since become a full-time member of DARK NEW DAY, the new "supergroup" also featuring Brett Hestla (ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT) on vocals, Will Hunt (ex-SKRAPE, TOMMY LEE) on drums, Clint's brother Corey Lowery (ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO) on bass, and Troy McLawhorn (ex-DOUBLE DRIVE) on guitar.
